RENATURING cities through quantified insightS
The ‘tug-of-war’ between urban development and natural ecosystems is as old as cities themselves. Still, the livelihood and well-being of urban dwellers strongly depend on the ecological services provided by healthy natural ecosystems in and around cities. To survey, protect and improve urban green infrastructure, this infrastructure must be monitored. Current techniques, however, are manual, time-consuming, tedious, and expensive. Cities need comprehensive and affordable data to benchmark and measure the success of their urban greening efforts and demonstrate progress over time.
